In simplest terms, the mind refers to the brain’s processes. Many of those functions are accessible to our conscious mind – the five basic senses, thinking and talking, and moving our bodies. Reading, learning, feeling emotions, etc., are just some of them. Its name comes from the fact that most of its activities are hidden from our awareness; hence, it is known as the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind never sleeps, unlike the conscious mind. Things are always happening to it. We can direct it at night to work on our behalf, even when sleeping (by training our minds).

A fully positive thought is the subconscious mind. The system does not even understand negative words like don’t, can’t, or no. As a result, a mindset shift begins with thinking positively. Don’t limit yourself by telling yourself what you can’t do, but rather what you should do instead.

If you wish to achieve something, state “I want to,” rather than “I don’t want to,” and don’t say, “I have to stop doing.” Likewise, your subconscious mind assumes that the message is positive when you hear a negative. When you hear, “Don’t do that,” it interprets it as, “Do that.” If you hear, “Just say no,” it will interpret as, “Don’t do that.”

Our subconscious mind directs our behaviors as one of its primary functions. The directives in it are closely tied to what we say and do and how we think about ourselves. We act, think, and react in ways the brain believes we should (once it believes how we should act, think, and react), and the brain sends us powerful messages to behave by the brain’s directives. It often makes mistakes about what we want because our subconscious is not an exceptionally good observer. It assumes that if we are fearful when around strangers, we wish to be fearful as well, so it formulates a fear directive that has us be fearful during those times.

Especially when we were mostly young and unable to evaluate or defend ourselves mentally, other people planted many directives in our subconscious minds. When a parent tells us that we are precious, the baby believes it. Therefore, it forms the directive “I am precious.”. As a result, I hear parents telling us we are worthless, which leads to the directive “I am worthless.”. Once children reach the age of four, many directives have already been set for them. Those who are positive and helpful lead successful and happy lives. Those who are negative and hurtful lead unhappy, unsuccessful lives.
